Itinerary

As your tour guide, I will meet you at either the Casablanca airport or your accommodation. We will then embark on a journey to the north of Morocco, passing through the Rif mountains on our way to the picturesque town of Chefchaouen. Along the way, we will make a stop at the Hassan Tower in Rabat, an incomplete minaret that is still worth a visit. After that, we will spend 2-3 hours hiking in the small pools of Akchour, where you can enjoy the stunning Cascades d’Akchour. In the afternoon, you will have some free time to explore on your own. You can visit the Plaza Outa el-Hammam, the main square of Chefchaouen, known for its many hammams. You can also indulge in a mint tea in a local restaurant while enjoying the spectacular view. Take a stroll through the narrow, blue-painted streets and capture some romantic photos. As the day comes to a close, we will head to the Spanish mosque to enjoy the last view of the blue city. Finally, we will head to your local Riad with a spectacular view to rest for the night.

Today, you will have the opportunity to visit two imperial cities, Meknes and Fes. To make the most of your day, we will wake up early to take pictures in the streets while they are less crowded. Then, we will set off for Fes, making a stop along the way at the UNESCO protected Roman ruins of Volubilis. This ancient city, established in the 3rd century BC, was an important hub for the Roman Empire and is home to many impressive buildings and architectural features. Although the ruins are incomplete, they are still worth a visit. Next, we will head to Meknes, the second imperial city on our itinerary. Be sure to visit the impressive Bab El-Mansour gate, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and the Royal Stables. After exploring Meknes, we will leave for Fes where we will spend the night in a local Riad.

Today you will spend the day exploring the city of Fes. Fes is divided into two parts, Fes el Bali and Fes el Jdid. We will begin our tour in Fes el Bali, where you will discover the medieval medina and walk through the streets of the old city. We will then visit the Bab Boujeloud gate and enter the main thoroughfare of Talâa Kebira. Next, we will head to the Al Attarine Madrasa, which is considered one of the finest examples of Marinid architecture due to its rich and harmonious decoration and efficient use of limited space. Afterwards, we will visit the Al-Qarawiyyin University, a university founded as a mosque by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 and it became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world. Later on, we will shift to Fes el Jadid to visit the modern city and get an overview of the city by climbing over the rooftop. At the end of the day, we will transfer you to your Riad for the night.

After breakfast, you will embark on a journey to the south of Morocco, to the desert town of Merzouga. We will begin by leaving Fes and heading to Ifrane, also known as the "little Switzerland of Morocco", for a short visit before continuing on to the beautiful cedar forests of Azrou. Along the way, you will have the chance to see barbary apes and take lovely pictures. We will then make a stop in Midelt for lunch before passing through the Middle Atlas mountains and arriving at the Ziz valley, known for its vast palm tree groves. We will then continue on to Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara desert, which is also known for its fossils. You will have the opportunity to learn about how they are transformed into beautiful decorative pieces. Next, we will head to Erg Chebbi, a sea of sand dunes spanning 13.5 square miles (35 square km). You will take a private camel ride for 1-2 hours, taking in the spectacular views from the top of the dunes. Once you arrive at your luxury desert camp, dinner will be served to you and you will enjoy traditional Berber music around the campfire before spending the night in your private tent.

Start your day early to catch the beautiful sunrise at the top of the Erg Chebbi dunes. After admiring the view, try your hand at sandboarding on the Sahara desert. Next, take a camel ride back to your hotel for breakfast and a quick shower. Continue your journey to the Draa valley and Dades gorges, with a first stop in the traditional market of Rissani. Drive through several Berber villages on the way to the Todra Gorges where you can walk under 300m high rocks and possibly spot climbers scaling the cliffs. Take some free time to relax by the cool waters of the Todra River. Afterwards, head to Dades and spend the night in a local Riad or hotel.

Begin your journey to Ouarzazate, known as the gate to the Sahara desert. Take a visit to the Kasbah and the popular Atlas Film Studio, where many famous films have been shot. Entry to the studio is 3 Euros per person. Afterwards, head to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. The Kasbah is a group of earthen buildings surrounded by high walls, it is a traditional pre-Saharan habitat. You will have free time to explore the area of Ait Benhaddou, take pictures and enjoy your lunch. Drive through Taznakht, Taroudant, and Berber village on your way to Agadir. Take a visit of the local Berber market. Spend your night in a hotel/Riad in Agadir.

Begin your day by visiting Agadir Oufla, a historical site that was once the old city of Agadir, which was heavily damaged in an earthquake. While there, take the opportunity to visit the Souk El-had Sunday market, where you can find traditional leather shops. Then, take a scenic drive along the Atlantic coast to Essaouira. Once you arrive, learn about the process of making argan oil by visiting local shops. Next, visit the port of the city and spend the rest of the day exploring the area. As you walk through the UNESCO-protected old medina, take in the sights of the 18th-century seafront ramparts, Skala de la Kasbah. Try some of the local sea street food before heading back to the beach to catch the sunset and take in the unforgettable atmosphere. After a day of exploring, return to your Riad for the night in Essaouira.

After a delicious breakfast, embark on the final leg of your 9-day private tour by taking a road trip to Marrakech. Once you arrive, start exploring the city by visiting Djemaa el Fna, a bustling square and marketplace in the heart of the old city. This is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Next, make your way to the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in the city. If time allows, take the opportunity to see some of the other top attractions in Marrakech. Return to your Riad for an overnight stay.

Depending on the flight you are taking, arrangements will be made for you to be transported to the airport.
