Welcome to Fes, Morocco! Meet your local guide at the airport or your accommodation to start your half-day tour of the city. Fes is the oldest of the four imperial cities in Morocco and a must-visit destination. Discover the old Fes Medina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is made up of two parts: Fes El Bali (Old Fes) and Fes El Jadid (New Fes). Begin your tour in Fes El Bali by visiting Bab Bou Jeloud, an ornate city gate in the old city. Next, head to the al-Qarawiyyin, the oldest university in the world. It was founded as a mosque by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 and has since become one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world. Take a stroll through the leather shops and continue to El Attarine Madrasa and Chouara Tannery, as well as the Mellah (old Jewish quarter and cemetery). Leave Old Fes and head to the New City.
