Begin your 5 days tour from Fes to Marrakech with a local guide who will meet you at your accommodation or at the airport. Take a half-day tour of the oldest imperial city in Morocco, known for its well-preserved Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the two main parts of the city, Fes El-Bali and Fes El-Jadid, with the majority of your time spent in Fes El-Bali. As you enter through the Bab Bou Jeloud gate, stroll through the narrow streets of the Medina and take in the sights and sounds of the markets. Climb to the rooftop of the city for a panoramic view of the Medina. Then, visit the historic Al-Qarawiyyin Library and Mosque. After your tour, return to your hotel or Riad for your first night of your Fes to Marrakech trip.
Today, you will embark on an exciting journey from Fes to the southern region of Morocco, Merzouga. The first stop on your trip will be a visit to Ifrane, known as the "little Switzerland of Morocco." From there, you will head to the beautiful cedar forests in Azrou, where you will have the opportunity to see barbary apes and take pictures. After that, you will stop for lunch in Midelt, and then pass through the Middle Atlas mountains to reach the Ziz valley, home to some of the largest palm trees in Morocco. Next, you will arrive in Erfoud, known as the "gate of the Sahara desert," where you will learn about the process of converting fossil rocks into decorative items. From there, you will continue on to Erg Chebbi, a vast expanse of sand dunes spanning 35 square kilometers. Here, you will take a 1-2 hour camel ride to the top of the dunes, where you will enjoy breathtaking views. Upon arriving at your luxury desert camp, dinner will be served and you will be entertained with traditional Berber music around the campfire. You will spend the night in a private tent.
Start your day by waking up early to catch the sunrise and try your hand at sandboarding. Afterwards, return to your luxury camp for breakfast and a refreshing shower. As you continue your Fes to Marrakech tour, make a stop at Rissani to explore the local market, or souk. Then, journey through various Berber villages on your way to the Todra Gorges, a stunning natural wonder with towering walls that reach a depth of 984 feet (300 m). Take some time to relax near the cool waters of the Todra river or engage in creative pursuits. Finally, end the day with a short drive to Dades where you will spend the rest of the evening.
Today, you will continue your journey to your final destination, Marrakech. First, depart from Dades and head towards Skoura oasis to take in the breathtaking views of the oasis river. Then, make a stop in Ouarzazate to visit the film atlas studio (entrance fee of 3 euros per person) and pick your favorite film. After that, travel to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Ait ben Haddou. Explore the kasbah, surrounded by earthen walls, and take free time to discover the area. Enjoy lunch there before embarking on a 5-6 hour drive through the High Atlas mountains. Make a stop near the summit of the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (7,415 feet or 2,260 m) to admire the panoramic views of the mountain range. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and spend the night there.
Depending on your flight schedule, you will have the opportunity to explore the "Red City" of Marrakech. Start with a visit to Jemaa el-fna square, a bustling hub of activity in the old medina, and explore the local traditional markets. Head north to visit the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in the city, which was first built in 1148 by Almohad Sultan Abdelmoumen. Then, move on to visit the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace and El Badi Palace, which are all located in the same area. Take a stroll through the Jardin Majorelle, a garden and artist's haven created by French Orientalist artist. Conclude your day by visiting the Ben Youssef Madrasa, an Islamic college, and thus concludes your 5-day itinerary from Fes to Marrakech.
